The Pigeon Qua Prophecy

Formed in the Fall of 2005, this group has already given us two web releases. Their sound is a meeting of late 70's prog rock and synthesizer explorations with experimental free improvisation. They insist that they are inspired by Uriah Heep, but it would be difficult to detect such an influence. What may seem clear is their love of spacey sounds and continental philosophy.

Comoros

The concept for this group is a simple one. Comoros works with a specific sound design. The instrumentation varies, but the delay paths are always the same. The music is a product of the effect pedals, filters and those who are able to control them. They live in Philadelphia, influenced by the monumental legends Bardo Pond and all of their incarnations. Comoros' debut LP, as well as their other releases have all been recorded at Jen's Coney Island.

Göte

Göte has always been our main act because it is us, the people behind Fedora Corpse. Jennifer Melinn and Adam Melinn started this band in late 2001 and it has undergone many changes in that time. Three studios later, this band has produced more than any other we work with. Tapes, computer files, CDr's, a live show and now finally a proper slab of vinyl. It's been called free-metal, noise, avant-garde improvisation and our neighbors have called it LOUD. However, we have always referred to it as 'battle music for happily married couples'.

Sshhh...

Ypsilanti, Michigan. Self-taught free jazz. This project served more as an activity than as a musical group. 320 N. Normal St. was a place where musicians and artists met up to create interesting new works in the late 1990's. The core of this group were Chad Stocker and Adam Melinn, but frequently featured other contributors such as: Ryan Malerman, Jen Pelavin and Paul Holmes. They recorded all of their musical sessions as well as their performances at Vinyl Joe's and the Gypsy Cafe. Our label is proud to release some of this material for the first time.

Sala Kaew Ku

Another project based on process. Record strange noises to an 8 track recorder and then perform live remixes using the 8 track as the sole instrument. The two members of Sala Kaew Ku make a competitive activity out of this, taking turns hovering over the sliders and dials. The result is harsh cut-up noise and serendipitous collage.

Honest To Goodness (formerly Mediaslave)

Honest to Goodness is the solo work of Chad Stocker. He currently lives in Detroit and plays in the rock band the High Strung. The recordings he does under these monikers represent the many other musical sides of his personality. These songs are more textural, folk-drone experiments. His passion is finding new sounds and discovering strange new tricks that pieces of older equipment can summon. The results are well produced, because he has a great deal of experience working in studios. Sometimes we get songs, sometimes we get audio poetry, and everything we get is always worth sharing with our audience.

The Barracks of Afghanistan

Ben-David Gilman has continued to release many other albums on some great labels, such as: Nurse Etiquette and RRRecords. He has also started his own label, Spaceless Jam. We were lucky enough to get a great track from him early on. The Barracks of Afghanistan is traditional harsh noise played in a way that only a high school student from a small town in Oregon can. Youthful energy = piercing volume and we love its vitality.

The Saint Mary's Fair

The well tuned piano has been drinking. It's a dusty old book containing songs about folklore and dirt floors. Sure, this one man band is inspired by circuses, fairs and carnivals; but he is also obviously influenced by 20th century classical composers. Like a strange woodland shack where Glen Branca, Peter Brotzman, Tom Waits and the Dirty Three meet up for a weekly card game, Adam Melinn tries to capture this through his clarinet, melodica and whatever else he can grab.

Dead Sword Wolf

This project is a series of collaborative jams featuring Göte with Sebastian Petsu, a Philadelphia musician who performs his tape collages in numerous ensembles. They get together when they can to vent their frustrations, record their noise and to discuss both the Grateful Dead and Iron Maiden.Although these sessions have only taken place a few times, they're always fun and worthy of throwing up some mics and making some cassettes.

Josh Malerman

A horror novelist and song writer from Detroit, Josh Malerman is best known as the voice of The High Strung. His music has been released by Tee Pee Records, Future Farmer and currently by Park The Van. The music that we have available from him is a reissue of a DIY cassette he made in the late 90's, prior to forming his band. He is a very talented songwriter and the Mary Muzzle album is a unique opportunity to hear his skills in a raw, lo-fi format.

Blueberry Shad Quadrant

This could be called a Comoros side project. Here, they are trying to channel Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze. However, both their chops and their equipment severely frail in comparison. While it may not sound like the synthesizer gods, it does capture the genuine artistic spirit. The truth is, they're using Casios and Yamahas, but in their minds exist endless patch bays and modular panels. It's spacey lo-fi keyboard noise for the Vangelis in us all.
